Well, take a look at these tips and you are surely not going to be disappointed.

Find out the cause of the hair fall

Ask yourself this question. Why is your hair falling? Often, an underlying disease or medication can be the cause. So, ask yourself, do you have any diseases? Any medications you are taking? Do you tie up your hair way too tightly? Are you using a shampoo that is too strong or unsuitable for your hair? Is it genetic, that is, is your father bald? Once you get the answer, you get the cause of your hair fall.

Take steps depending on the cause

Now what you need to do is take steps depending on the cause of hair fall. If you are using a shampoo that made your hair fall, then stop using it. Use a mild shampoo suitable for your hair.

Get a health checkup done. If your hair has suddenly begun to fall, maybe you have a health condition you are not aware of. Once you take care of the health condition, your hair will soon become healthier.

If it is genetic and your parents began to lose their hair at the age you are now, time to use some hair regrowth products. These products will need to be used consistently for a few months to get results. Sorry, there is no way you can stop your hair fall quickly in this case. You will need to have patience and continue with your hair treatment regime for quite a few months.

Take a look at your diet

Are you eating well? This means a healthy and balanced diet. Nutrients such as protein, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, zinc, and vitamin B complex are necessary for your hair. How to Use Multani Mitti for Hair

Get beautiful hair with the best clay in the world!
Popularly known as Multani mitti in India, Fuller's earth is one of best known natural products for glowing skin and beautiful hair. This natural product, which is easily available and commonly used in India, is now catching the eye of the Western world as well because of its cleansing properties.

Used regularly, multani mitti can give you shiny and strong hair. It is very effective for treating split ends and acts as an excellent cleanser for oily and greasy hair. Let's take a look at a few multani mitti hair masks. These can be used once a week for shiny and beautiful hair.

Multani mitti and reetha

Reetha is a very popularly used hair cleanser used in India. Women usually soak reetha in water overnight and use its extract in the morning to wash their hair. It is often combined with other ingredients such as shikakai and amla to prepare a natural homemade shampoo.

Soak multani mitti and reetha in a bowl of warm water overnight. You can also use reetha powder for this hair mask. Make a smooth paste of the two ingredients and apply it on the hair in the morning. Leave this pack on the hair for about 30 minutes and then wash it off with plain water. This reetha and multani mitti hair pack is especially good for oily and greasy hair.

Multani mitti and oil treatment

If you are worried about your dull and lackluster hair, try this hair mask. Massage your scalp with coconut or olive oil. Soak a towel in warm water and wrap it around your head. This allows the scalp to soak the oil properly.

Make a smooth paste of multani mitti with water. Add a little lemon to it. Apply this paste on your hair for about 30 minutes. Wash it with warm water. Do not use shampoo the same day.

Multani mitti can be drying for the hair. The oil treatment done before applying the hair mask will ensure that your hair does not feel too dry. However, if you want you can take a little bit of your regular favorite hair oil and apply it.

Multani mitti and egg

This hair pack is very useful to get silky, smooth and straight hair. Combine multani mitti with egg white. You can also use the yolk of the egg for this pack, provided you can stand its smell. Add a little bit of coconut or olive oil to this paste. Apply it on your hair and leave it on for about an hour. The egg and the oil will condition your hair and strengthen it. The clay will clean the scalp and hair and straighten your hair.

Multani mitti can be combined with other ingredients such as curd or buttermilk as well to make a very useful hair mask. Multani mitti does have a drying effect on the hair. So, if you have dry hair, make sure to use a generous amount of oil after washing it off.

Top 10 Foods for Healthy Hair

What to do for a healthy hair growth?

So, you have done everything that you could to get a healthy hair growth. Somebody said, "Exercise", so you began hitting the gym seven days a week. Someone else said, "Massage your hair with oil", and you did that too. Well, exercising and massaging are believed to increase blood supply to your scalp, which may help you get beautiful and shiny hair. However, if you are not eating the right foods, exercising and massaging are not going to be much useful for you.

So, the idea is to eat a healthy and balanced diet. So, what are the nutrients and foods that can give you beautiful and lustrous hair?

Fish

Two of the most important nutrients for healthy hair are iron and protein. You can easily get these nutrients by consuming fishes of the oily variety. Fishes of the oily variety, include salmon and mackerel. These fishes are also packed with omega-3 essential fatty acids which are necessary for a healthy scalp. These fatty acids will provide shine and luster to your hair, giving it a healthy appearance. Fishes are also rich sources of vitamin B12, another important nutrient for beautiful hair.

Dairy Products

You may be avoiding dairy products because you don't want to put on those extra pounds. However, if you want shiny hair, you should include the low-fat varieties in your diet. Low-fat yogurt, cottage cheese and skimmed milk provide you with two high-quality proteins. These are whey and casein. Dairy products are also rich sources of calcium, an important mineral for good hair.

Whole Grains

Whole grain foods are healthy for our bodies. We have read this statement many times. Here is another reason to feast on these. Whole grain foods are good for your hair as well. Whole-wheat breads and fortified breakfast cereals are rich sources of iron and the B vitamins. These foods are also rich sources of zinc, a mineral that may affect the levels of hormones associated with hair loss.

Oysters

A potent aphrodisiac, oysters are the richest sources of zinc. As already mentioned, zinc is a mineral that helps regulate the level of hormones that control the thickness and growth of your hair. Of course, you can get zinc from whole grain foods. Some of the best zinc-rich foods for healthy hair also include beef and lamb.

Leafy Green Vegetables

Leafy green vegetables such as spinach are excellent sources of vitamins A and C. Both these vitamins are necessary for the production of adequate amounts of sebum, so these nutrients will keep your hair soft and lustrous. Vitamin C is also necessary for the absorption of iron, so your leafy green vegetables will also provide strength to your weak hair. Broccoli and other dark green vegetables are also rich sources of Vitamin C.

Nuts

Nuts such as cashews, walnuts and pecans are rich sources of the mineral zinc. So, these will help reduce hair loss. Walnuts are rich in alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid. Brazil nuts and walnuts are also rich sources of the mineral called selenium. This nutrient is important to maintain a healthy scalp and may also prevent dryness and dandruff. So, make sure to include a handful of nuts in your daily diet for healthy hair.

Eggs

One of the richest sources of protein, eggs also provides your hair with biotin and vitamin B12. Keep in mind that your hair is made of protein, so if you are not consuming enough of this nutrient on a daily basis, your hair will suffer. So, include different foods that are rich sources of protein in your daily diet.

Flaxseed

If you don't like fish, you can get your supply of omega-3 essential fatty acids from flaxseed. This is especially useful for vegetarians. Besides being a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseed is also a rich source of a nutrient called lignans. This compound has been found to be particularly useful in slowing down hair loss. However, if you want lignan, make sure to buy ground whole flaxseeds since the compound is present in the shell of this food.

Chicken

Turkey and chicken meat are also rich sources of protein. These foods also provide ample amounts of iron, so you are sure to see an improvement in the strength of your hair with the regular consumption of these foods.

Legumes

Whether you like them or not, you have got to include these in your diet if you want a healthy scalp and beautiful hair. Just by including foods such as kidney beans and lentils in your diet, you are sure to get your daily supply of nutrients for healthy hair. These include iron, zinc and protein. Legumes are also rich sources of a B vitamin known as biotin. Lack of this vitamin can lead to brittle hair prone to breakage. So, make sure to include a cup of cooked beans or lentils in your diet at least three times a week.

So, make sure to include these foods for healthy hair in your diet. Keep in mind that iron, protein, calcium, B vitamins, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and selenium are wonderful nutrients to promote healthy hair growth. If you are including these nutrients in your food, you are doing the best thing for your hair. Certain home remedies for hair loss may also help in strengthening the hair and scalp and give you thick and lustrous hair. If you think you are not getting enough of these nutrients, consider taking a daily hair growth supplement.

The Five Best Herbs for Hair Loss and Growth

Is your hair falling? Well, that can indeed be distressing. While it is normal to lose about 70 to 150 hair strands every day, anything more than that can be a cause for concern. While some hair care products can really be useful here, you should never rule out the magic that herbs can do for your hair. Let's take a look at the signs and causes of hair loss and then go on to find out what are the best herbs for hair loss.

Symptoms and causes of hair loss

Thinning hair on the scalp, especially at the crown of the head, a receding hairline, sudden loss of patches of hair, or excessive shedding of hair are some clear signs of hair loss.

In some people, hair loss is hereditary. However, in others, excessive stress, nutritional deficiencies, dandruff, chronic illnesses, medications, and thyroid imbalances can be the reason for falling hair. Excessive use of procedures such as coloring, bleaching, perming, and straightening can also lead to hair damage.

In women, hormonal imbalances during menopause or after childbirth are also likely causes. Of course, "male pattern baldness" is definitely one of the chief causes of hair loss in men.

If you want an effective treatment for your hair fall, you should try and find out the cause behind it. For example, if chemical treatments and harsh hair products could be the reason for your hair loss, you should stop these chemical treatments and switch to mild hair care products.

Natural Home Remedies for Hair Loss

The best herbs for hair loss and regrowth

If you want to try out home treatments to stop hair loss, you can surely not ignore the use of herbs. These herbs are usually safe to use and with zero or minimal side-effects. While there is a long list of herbs that can work for falling hair, here are five of the most effective herbs for hair loss and regrowth.

Lavender

If you love the fragrance of lavender in your soaps and shampoos, this may be the hair fall herb for you. The herb lavender, scientific name Lavandula angustifolia or Lavandula officinalis, was frequently used in baths to purify the body and spirit in ancient times. The herb is often used to treat insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, and depression. The inhalation of the scent has been found to have a calming and sedating effect.

When applied directly on the scalp, lavender oil is believed to stimulate hair regrowth. The University of Maryland School of Medicine cites a study conducted on men with alopecia areata. In the study it was found that massaging the scalp with a combination of lavender, thyme, rosemary, and cedarwood oils boosted hair growth in men. Continuous use for about seven months is believed to improve hair growth by as much as 44%.

Rosemary

Rosemary is another essential oil that has been found to be effective for hair loss. In the study cited above, rosemary was one of the essential oils used to promote hair regrowth. Traditionally, rosemary, or Rosmarinus officinalis, is used to improve memory, increase urine flow, treat indigestion, and support the circulatory and nervous systems.

Rosemary has been found to have antioxidant as well as antimicrobial properties. While its antioxidant properties will prevent the cells in your scalp from the harmful effects of free radicals, its antimicrobial properties will help in treating any bacterial or fungal infections that may be the cause of your hair fall.

You can apply rosemary oil directly on the scalp, again, for best results combine it with thyme, cedarwood, and lavender. Sipping a cup of rosemary tea may also have a positive effect on your hair since the herb is easily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract as well. However, your total daily intake of the herb should not exceed 4-6 grams. Make sure not to take rosemary oil orally.

Gingko Biloba

Gingko is one of the oldest herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine. The gingko leaf extract was traditionally used for the treatment of conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, fatigue and also ringing in the ears (tinnitus). It also may help in improving memory, treating sexual dysfunction, and preventing Alzheimer's disease.

Gingko biloba has been found to have antioxidant properties and it also improves blood circulation. These two properties of this herb are considered to be the reasons for its effectiveness in stopping hair loss and promoting regrowth. However, do not exceed the recommended dosage for this herb since it may cause diarrhea, nausea, and allergic reactions. It is also not recommended for people with bleeding disorders.

Saw Palmetto

Sereno repens or saw palmetto is a small palm tree native to North America. The brown-black berries of this plant are believed to have medicinal properties and have been used to treat urinary conditions and prostate enlargement.

It is considered to be an effective herb for male as well as female pattern baldness, which occurs at the top of the head or around the temples. While more research is required to ascertain how this herb works for hair loss, it is believed that it may prevent testosterone from being converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The hormone, DHT, is considered to be one of the reasons for male pattern baldness and this is why various hair loss treatment products are often sold as DHT blockers.

Stinging Nettle

Urtica Diocia or stinging nettle is another useful herb for hair loss. Traditionally, it has been used to treat painful muscles and joints, arthritis, anemia, and eczema. It is also used to treat enlarged prostate and urinary dysfunctions.

The herb is sold as dried leaf and in the form of capsules, tablets, root tincture, juice and tea. The herb is believed to work similarly to saw palmetto, that is, it blocks the testosterone from being converted into DHT. In fact, it is believed that stinging nettle is more effective when used in combination with saw palmetto.

The Best Vitamins for Hair Loss

Nutritional deficiencies are one of the major causes of hair loss in men and women. While much of it can be handled effectively with a properly balanced diet, sometimes, you may need to take a multivitamin supplement. This not only stops hair loss but is also good for tackling any other medical conditions that may have resulted due to the deficiency of vitamins and minerals. So, if you are worried about your falling hair, you may want to take these vitamins in supplement form.

Vitamin A

One of the most important vitamins for preventing and stopping hair fall is vitamin A. If taken in the right quantity, this fat-soluble vitamin will help in the production of adequate amount of sebum in your scalp. These are natural oils produced in your scalp that will promote the health of your hair follicles, prevent dryness and dandruff, and give a healthy and natural shine to your locks.

Keep in mind that dryness and dandruff can lead to excessive hair loss. So, if you manage to keep these in control, you will be able to reduce hair shedding.

It has also been found that smoking tends to inhibit the absorption of vitamin A. So, quit it before you lose a few more of your hair locks. Certain medications can also interfere in the absorption of this nutrient. If you are on any medication that may be the cause of your hair fall, consult your doctor.

Vitamin B

We have all heard about the importance of the vitamin B group vitamins for our health and well-being. Well, if you want thick, shiny and healthy hair, you better get the right dose of these vitamins. Among the B vitamins, biotin or B7 is especially considered to be important for healthy hair and nails. While more research is definitely required to prove how it really operates in giving healthy hair, skin and nails, you will find biotin as a key ingredient in most hair loss products sold these days.

Folic acid and vitamin B6 are also considered to be good to prevent hair loss. Both these nutrients play a key role in the production of hemoglobin and help in strengthening the follicles, thus, reducing shedding of hair.

Furthermore, the B vitamins play a key role in controlling stress levels. So, if you have been under a lot of stress lately and losing hair, you may want to take a supplement.

Vitamin C

You probably already know that vitamin C plays an important role in boosting your immune system. So, of course, this means that you if you want to prevent hair loss caused due to various scalp infections, you may want to get the right dose of this nutrient.

Besides this, vitamin C will promote collagen production, which is considered to be essential for a healthy skin as well as healthy hair. It is also an antioxidant so it also protects the cells of your scalp from the damaging effects of free radicals. So, take around 500 - 1000 mg of vitamin C daily and enjoy its antioxidant properties.

Vitamin E

Another powerful antioxidant for scalp and hair health is vitamin E. This vitamin promotes blood circulation, ensuring that enough oxygen and blood is supplied to the hair follicles. The result is as expected; a healthy scalp and reduced hair shedding. An amount of 400 IU a day is considered to be healthy to reduce hair fall as well as promote hair growth.

If you are taking any medication for high blood pressure, make sure to consult your physician since it may further raise your BP.

 Other nutrients for hair loss

Combine the above hair loss vitamins with minerals such as magnesium, calcium, zinc and selenium and you will get a potent supplement for your hair.

An essential amino acid called L-lysine is also considered to be a key nutrient for hair health. While it is essential for human health, the human body cannot manufacture it. So, you need to get this from food or supplements. L-lysine helps in the formation of collagen and the absorption of calcium, both factors will help reduce hair loss and increase hair growth.

Omega-3 fatty acids are also believed to improve hair health and reduce shedding. You can get this healthy fat by taking one tablespoon of fish oil or 1-2 capsules daily.

Try these hair care supplements

You can also try these hair supplements that are especially formulated for hair loss and growth. Make sure to give at least three months for these products to show an effect on your hair. Click on the link to get the details on the product and buy it as well.

Ensuring that you include these hair loss vitamins for men and women in your diet is the best way to have healthy locks. However, supplements can definitely give that extra power to your efforts in controlling hair fall. These supplements are generally safe to use as long as you do not exceed the dosage limit. Natural Home Remedies for Hair Loss

The Five Best Natural Home Remedies for Hair Fall

There are quite a few adults who are looking for some natural home remedies for hair loss. Why not; hair loss seems to be becoming a common problem among adults of all ages these days. However, the surprising thing is that hair loss is increasingly becoming more and more common even in teenagers.

Before we look at the top natural home remedies for hair loss, let's have a look at what is hair loss and what are the common causes of hair fall.

What is hair fall?

The first thing that you need to know is that hair is made of a type of protein. This protein is called keratin. Your hair has basically four parts: the shaft, the root, the follicle, and the hair bulb. The hair shaft is what you can see. The root is just below the scalp. The follicle is the part from which the hair root grows. The hair bulb is what gives your hair its color since it produces melanin. It is present at the lower end of the follicle.

If you are losing about 50 to 100 hairs a day, you have no cause to worry. Your hair will grow back in the same follicle. If you are losing more than that, then you need to find the cause and address it.

We will have a look at some wonderful natural home remedies for hair loss very soon. However, as mentioned above you will need to address the cause of hair fall as well for these home remedies to work. So, let's have a quick look at some of the causes of hair loss.

What are the causes of hair loss?

There are can be any number of causes of hair loss in both teenagers and adults. However, these are some of the most common reasons for hair loss, especially in teenagers:

Medical conditions

Hormonal imbalances due to health conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, lupus and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can be a cause of your hair loss. If you think you have a health condition, you will need to consult a doctor for the same. Similarly, pregnancy, surgical procedures and traumatic events can lead to hair loss. However, hair fall caused due to these three situations is usually temporary.

Medications

Diet pills, acne medicines, and medications for mood disorders can lead to hair loss in teenagers and adults alike. You may notice that just by stopping these medications the hair fall tends to disappear.

Alopecia areata

One of the most common reasons for hair loss and baldness is the skin disease called alopecia areata. This is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system (which is supposed to protect the body from various infections and diseases) begins to attack the body's own tissues, cells and organs. The disease damages the hair follicles and may lead to bald patches in both men and women.

Traction alopecia

If your hair is tied too tightly and for a long time, you will be putting unnecessary tension on the scalp. This will damage your hair follicles and lead to permanent baldness. This condition is referred to as traction alopecia.

Trichotillomania

If you are in the habit of pulling your hair out, you have trichotillomania. This is a psychological disorder and you will need treatment for it. Otherwise, you will end up with bald patches on your hair.

Improper Diet

If your body is not getting enough vitamins, minerals and proteins, your hair will find it difficult to survive. Iron, protein, calcium, vitamin B complex, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids are especially necessary for health hair. If you are not getting these nutrients in your food, you should consider getting some healthy hair supplements to stop hair loss. Take a look at some very useful hair supplements that can help your here.

Hair treatments

These days, chemical treatments are quite commonly used to style the hair. You are coloring your hair, bleaching it, straightening it, drying it and what not. Although these treatments make your hair look gorgeous for a little while, these are not doing any good to your hair. So, if you are overdoing these, stop it immediately.

Androgenetic alopecia

The most common cause of baldness in both males and females is androgenetic alopecia. This is caused due to a combination of genetic factors and hormonal factors. Androgen is the main hormone involved in this condition.
